Bayport-Blue Point music department earns top honors in Washington, D.C.

|

The Bayport-Blue Point High School music department recently took a three-day field trip to Washington, D.C., to take part in the Festivals of Music competition.

The high school’s chorus, symphonic band, string orchestra and symphony orchestra each placed in first in their respective divisions, collecting high praise from top-level adjudicators, including renowned collegiate conductors.

Each adjudication began with a workshop clinic where the adjudicator provided valuable tips and suggestions to enhance the musical performances of the four Bayport-Blue Point ensembles.

The chorus, symphonic band and string orchestra each garnered an “Excellent” rating, while the symphony orchestra received a coveted “Superior” rating.

While in the D.C. area April 28-30, the student-musicians spent a day enjoying the thrill rides at Six Flags America and visiting the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History and American Art.

The Bayport-Blue Point School District is thrilled to congratulate the student-musicians and their teachers for their incredible achievements in the Festivals of Music competition. Their success is a testament to the district’s commitment to providing quality music education opportunities to its students.
