Acting on a tip from a national internet crimes task force, Suffolk Police arrested a Bayport man Tuesday on felony charges related to child pornography.
Ryan Yost, 22, was charged with promoting a sexual performance by a child and possessing a sexual performance by a child under 16, both felonies, police said.
Detectives from the Suffolk County Police Digital Forensics Unit began investigating Yost after receiving information from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Police said a search warrant was executed about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Yost’s home on East Road, where investigators allegedly recovered images depicting child pornography from a cellphone found at the home.
Yost was arrested and is being held in police custody overnight, police said. He is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday at Suffolk County First District Court in Central Islip.
Anyone with information related to the case, or who believes they may be a victim, is asked to contact Suffolk County Police Digital Forensics Unit detectives at 631.852.6572.
