From the heart: Bayport kids raise $14G for the heart

|

The kids at Bayport’s Academy Street Elementary school recently raised a few bucks short of $14,000 for the American Heart Association.

The student body’s effort was part of the heart association’s Kids Heart Challenge. In total, the students were able pool $13,950.14 in donations.

The school’s top two fundraisers were third graders Troy Collotta and Max Cardillo, who raised $2,384.92 and $1,754.81, respectively.

As part of this challenge, Academy students also learned about heart health and worked on their jump rope skills during every gym class for a month.

The Kids Heart Challenge focuses on whole body wellness, helping students improve their own health and better their character while raising life-saving donations for the American Heart Association to help children who face heart-health issues.
