Bayport twins help Boston College capture its first women’s lacrosse title

Bayport-Blue Point alumnae Courtney and Cassidy Weeks combined for three goals to help lead Boston College on Sunday to its first national championship in women’s lacrosse.

Courtney Weeks found the net twice in Boston College’s 16-10 win over Syracuse in the NCAA Division I final in Towson, Maryland. Her twin sister Cassidy’s goal gave the Golden Eagles a five-goal lead, 14-9, with 15:15 left in the game.

Three other players from Suffolk County are on Boston College’s roster. Syracuse counts 13 women from Suffolk. Both teams were vying for their respective program’s first title.

Belle Smith, a freshman from Westhampton Beach, scored twice and had two assists for Boston College. Emma Ward, a freshman from Babylon High School, scored twice and had an assist for Syracuse.
