Family recipes from Naples, Italy, are coming to West Islip in the form of Bella Cucina, which is being built at 424 Montauk Highway across from Stuff-A-Bagel.
“Everything in here is made fresh,” said owner Sam Ismaio, who is from Naples. “All ingredients, we make it from scratch.”
The Italian restaurant is filling the void left behind by the closed-down Monte Di Procida Ristorante & Pizzeria. (Fun fact: Monte Di Procida is a small town in Italy just 15 miles west of Naples.)

Ismaio, the owner of five other restaurants, including Porto Fino in Levittown, is planning to open his newest venture soon. He told GreaterBabylon on Aug. 16 that he’s hoping to open in “a couple of weeks.”
“As soon as we pass inspections we are going to open,” he said.
Ismaio, who now lives in Commack, is excited to enter a new neighborhood.
“West Islip is a very good area; it’s very nice,” he said.
Bella Cucina’s menu includes a variety of dishes, from traditional pizza slices to an array of different entrées, including many seafood options.
That, and incentives.
“We are going to have a pasta night, chicken parmigiana special, a pizza special on Wednesday,” Ismaio explained. “We are going to have a lot of specials.”
Bella Cucina is going to be open every day from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
