Pop the cork — February just got a whole lot brighter for an aptly named Bellmore lottery winner.
Jason Champagne claimed a $1,000 A Day For Life top prize after matching the first five numbers in New York Lottery’s CASH4LIFE drawing on Dec. 9, lottery officials announced this week. The top prize guarantees a minimum payout of $7 million over time.
Champagne chose to receive the cash value of the 4Life prize, giving him a single lump-sum payment of $4,557,000 after required withholdings.
The winning numbers in the drawing were 12, 24, 36, 54 and 56; the Cash Ball was 02.
Champagne hit the road for his lucky ticket, buying it at Smokes 4 Less, located at 59 North Plank Road in Newburgh.
