Michael McHenry, 40, was arrested hours after police found Juliann Bachmann unresponsive in a car at a Speedway on Horseblock Road

A Bellport man killed a 30-year-old woman who was found dead in a vehicle at a Yaphank gas station Saturday morning, police said.

Michael McHenry, 40, who lives on Wisteria Circle in the Rosemont Brookhaven apartment complex off Woodside Avenue, was charged with second-degree murder following the death of Juliann Bachmann, also of Bellport. Police found Bachmann injured and unresponsive in a vehicle at the Speedway on Horseblock Road — less than a mile from McHenry’s home — about 7:25 a.m.

Authorities have not confirmed how the two knew each other, if at all, but property records online indicate that Bachman had the same Wisteria Circle address.

She was taken to NYU Langone Hospital – Suffolk in Patchogue, where she was pronounced dead.

Detectives conducted a preliminary investigation and determined the cause of death to be criminal, according to police. McHenry was arrested at 8:13 p.m. the same day.

He was held overnight at the Third Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned today at First District Court in Central Islip.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Homicide Squad at 631.852.6392 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1.800.220.TIPS.
