Bellport senior plays in national all-star game at AT&T Stadium in Texas

|

Bellport football senior Johnnie Booker played in the 2022 Dream All-American Bowl in Texas this month.

The offensive guard was one of 167 athletes picked to take part in a weeklong training session and play in a game Jan. 17 at the Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium. Booker’s team — coached by New Orleans Saints Hall of Fame player Joe Horn — won the game 21-13.

Participants in the event received premium uniforms and gear and had the opportunity to learn from higher level coaches, all while gaining a huge boost in recruitment. Walker, who is 6-foot-4 and weighs about 300 pounds, has received interest from a bevy of college football programs, including NCAA Division II New Haven.

He is also being recruited by two NAIA programs and numerous NCAA Division III programs, including Buffalo State and Cortland.

Here’s a clip from the event’s media day session, featuring Booker at the 1:07 mark.

County title in 2021

Booker this fall anchored an offensive line that helped propel Bellport to a Suffolk County championship and a chance to play for a Long Island championship. Check out Booker’s senior highlight reel below.
