Best Buy employee sent Huntington Station customer’s intimate photos to himself, police say

A Best Buy employee in Huntington Station was arrested for allegedly stealing intimate photos from a customer’s phone while helping her inside the store with a service issue.

Kaelem Von Camper, 31, of Greenlawn faces charges of unlawful dissemination or publication of an intimate image and unauthorized use of a computer, Suffolk Police said on Wednesday.

A 36-year-old woman visited the Best Buy at 148 Walt Whitman Road on April 17 about 10 a.m. to resolve a problem with her cell phone. Von Camper, a store employee, assisted her.

After leaving the store, the victim received an airdrop notification showing that intimate photos had been sent to an unknown number from her phone without her permission.

Suffolk Police’Second Precinct Crime Unit officers investigated and determined the photos were sent to Von Camper’s phone.

Von Camper was arrested at the police department’s Second Precinct on Wednesday at 3:52 p.m. He was issued a desk appearance ticket and is scheduled for arraignment at Suffolk First District Court in Central Islip.

Police are asking anyone who believes they may have been a victim of Von Camper to contact the Second Precinct Crime Unit at 631.854.8275.
