A 14-year-old boy was hospitalized with serious injuries after being struck by a car while riding a bicycle just after 4 a.m. Saturday on Sunrise Highway in Massapequa Park, Nassau police said.
Detectives said a 23-year-old man driving a 2023 Kia Forte eastbound hit the teen near Block Boulevard. The boy was taken by Nassau County Police Ambulance to a local hospital, where he is listed in serious condition, police said.
The driver remained at the scene and was not injured. A section of Sunrise Highway was closed for hours following the crash before reopening later Saturday morning.
The investigation is ongoing.
