Petito, 22, a native of Blue Point, was found slain Sept. 19 in Bridger-Teton National Forest in Wyoming. She had been traveling in Wyoming and Utah for months, as part of a cross country trip with her boyfriend Brian Laundrie, 23, also from Blue Point.

A huge police manhunt continues for Laundrie, who returned to the couple’s Florida home Sept. 1 in Petito’s van — without Petito. Laundrie and Petito moved to North Port, Florida, two years ago, and had been living with Laundrie’s family.

A federal arrest warrant was issued for Laundrie on Sept. 23, relating to his activities following the homicide death of Petito. Laundrie and Petito left Long Island July 2 on their “van life” trip.
