BMW impounded after it was seen fleeing Hauppauge car meet

|

A 2015 BMW M3 that fled from a Saturday night car meet in Hauppauge was impounded after cops located the vehicle Sunday night in Shirley, police said.

Members of Suffolk County Police’s Street Takeover Task Force tried to pull over the BMW as it sped away from the car meet — also known as a “sideshow” — in a reckless manner about 9 p.m. on Saturday, according to cops. The BMW driver allegedly turned off the car’s lights and accelerated through multiple traffic signals while evading cop cars.

A task force officer spotted the vehicle traveling north on William Floyd Parkway in Shirley about 11:15 p.m. on Sunday and pulled it over.

The driver of the vehicle on Sunday night, Clyde Jean Baptiste, 23, of Mastic Beach, was issued multiple vehicle and traffic law citations and the vehicle was impounded as evidence of unlawful fleeing from the previous night’s incident, authorities said. It’s unclear who was driving the car when it fled the car meet on Saturday.
