Bohemia jet skier rescued in Great South Bay in Sayville

|

A Bohemia man who had fallen off his jet ski and was stranded in the Great South Bay in Sayville Thursday night was rescued by Suffolk marine police.

Andrew Cole, 35, had been floating in very choppy for about an hour when officers on routine patrol of the bay found him about 7:25 p.m. Suffolk Police Marine Bureau Officers Mike Cappiello and Chris Schnoor scooped Cole onboard Marine Mike and brought him to shore at Blue Point’s Corey Creek boat ramp.

Cole, who was wearing a life jacket and located near his jet ski and Buoy 34, refused medical attention once he reached land. The officers also towed his jet ski to shore. Police said he was too far out to safely swim to shore.
