The year’s first breakfast crawl is all set for Saturday, May 20, in Patchogue Village.
These are meant to mimic a bar crawl, except instead of hopping from bar to bar for wine, beer and spirits, these folks are in search of eggs, pancakes and sausages.
Of course, they’re free to grab a beer, bloody Mary or mimosa, too. (Or whatever else.)
There were three breakfast crawls in Patchogue last year, with the first-ever being held in April.
Two are planned for 2017, with one in the spring and another in the fall.
“Part of what makes the breakfast crawl fun is that it is for everyone,” said breakfast crawl brainchild and local artist Dave Rogers. “Breakfast is a time that we associate with family, and lots of families can join in.
Rogers organizes the crawls through the Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce. Tickets will be $25 to sample breakfast items from five different places, or $35 for 10 locations.
Tickets will go on sale next month on the Chamber website and some will be made available for that morning.
Proceeds from the May 20 crawl, which runs from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., will go toward the Arts on Terry festival, which is run by the Patchogue Arts Council.
Arts on Terry is set for June 4 from noon to 6 p.m. on Terry Street.
Rogers said each breakfast crawl will serve as a fundraiser for a different event or local organization.
Aside from the morning fun, he said, coming out for breakfast exposes people to a different side of Patchogue, “the breakfast side.”
“And there are a lot of new venues looking to break into the scene,” he said.
Check back for a full list of participants when tickets become available.
