Suffolk police are investigating an incident on Maureen Drive in Mount Sinai after officers responded to the residential block early Saturday afternoon.
Greater Long Island went to the scene after receiving real-time emergency alerts just before 1 p.m. from a public crime-tracking app that relayed dispatcher radio traffic about a medical emergency involving a pedestrian — a young child — at that address.
Police though have not confirmed any details about the incident.
At the address, officers had taped off part of Maureen Drive near Brian Lane. Several patrol vehicles were stationed outside a two-story white home with black shutters and a front-facing garage.
Police were examining a white Dodge Ram parked in the home’s driveway, with the back of the truck facing the house as officers looked over the exterior.
A Suffolk County police flatbed tow truck arrived about 3:45 p.m. and removed the Ram from the driveway, departing the scene just before 5 p.m., just as holiday lights began to flicker on in the neighborhood.
Two Suffolk police Crime Scene Section vans later pulled away from the area about 4:40 p.m.
Neighborhood shaken

A longtime resident who lives nearby — and who provided only his first name — stopped momentarily to watch from the road. The man said he had lived in the neighborhood for two decades and had “never seen this kind of police presence.”
Maureen Drive was re-opened to traffic at 5 p.m.
The Suffolk County Police Department has not yet released an official statement or described the nature of the investigation. A press release is expected.
Greater Long Island will update this story as soon as more information becomes available.
