Editor’s note: The initial report has since been updated for accuracy.
A new, family-friendly street festival is being planned for this summer in downtown Patchogue.
With Alive After Five on hiatus due to COVID-19, the village back in January tentatively approved three dates for some chamber-related activities on Main Street this July and August.
The Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce’s Patchogue Young Professionals has since been working on a series that could feature street dining, live music, vendors, games for children, and things like petting zoos.
The dates and times the group is working with are July 22, Aug. 5, and Aug. 19, all from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. There’s also a rain date of Aug. 26.
Those dates, however, are pending a plan from the chamber that would still need to be approved by the Village Board.
Many details need to be ironed out with the village, as well as the state and adherence to proper health and safety protocols, chamber officials said.
Check back for updates on the proposed street festival, as this is a developing concept.
