A Brentwood man trafficked a teenage girl for roughly two years, selling her to local men for sex, police said.
Cops arrested Luis Parada, 57, Tuesday about 6:40 a.m., during a search warrant at his home on MacArthur Avenue, police said.
He is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in Suffolk First District Court in Central Islip on charges of third-degree rape, sex trafficking of a minor, and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
The case began about two weeks ago, when Suffolk Police detectives suspected a teenager was being trafficked at the home and contacted the department’s Human Trafficking Investigations Unit, authorities said.
The unit’s investigation found Parada had trafficked the same girl for about two years. She is now 17.
Police said Parada raped the girl and arranged for other local men to pay him to have sex with her. Detectives are also investigating whether narcotics were involved.
During the search of Parada’s home, investigators seized a 1987 Winnebago, 22 cell phones, a replica firearm, a machete, electronics and forensic evidence, police said.
Others arrested
Two other Brentwood men were also arrested in the raid.
Rigoberto Celisgarcia, 48, and Amado Campos, 59, were each charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. They were issued desk appearance tickets and will appear in court at a later date.
Detectives are investigating whether more charges will be filed against any of the three men, police said.
Police are asking anyone with information about Parada, Celisgarcia, Campos or other possible suspects to call the Human Trafficking Investigations Unit at 631.854.7512. Anonymous tips can be made to Crime Stoppers at 1.800.220.TIPS (8477), through the P3 Tips mobile app or at P3Tips.com.
