Brentwood’s own Lester Quinones has joined the reigning champions.
Quinones, a 21-year-old rookie guard out of Memphis, officially signed a two-way contract last week with the Golden State Warriors after going undrafted this summer.
[For the uninitiated, two-way contracts allow NBA franchises to add two additional players to their roster by allowing them to split time with the team and its G League affiliate.]
Quinones had a connection to the Warriors — the team that won the 2022 NBA Finals over the Celtics — having been college teammates with center James Wiseman during the 2019-20 season. Wiseman was selected No. 2 overall in the NBA draft by the Warriors that following season. That season, Quinones earned a spot on the AAC All-Freshman Team.
During his three-year college career, Quinones played in 87 games (81 starts), averaging 10.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists. He also helped lead his team to a NIT title in 2021.
Quinones is currently showing his talents at the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas.
In the regular season, the Long Islander will be learning from the best, sharing the court with future Hall of Fame guards Steph Curry and Klay Thompson.
