Brewport Coffee House in Bellport celebrates grand opening Nov. 24

|

Long Islanders can now sip seasonal brews as the holidays approach at this brand-new coffee spot, all within one of Suffolk’s most picturesque backdrops: downtown Bellport Village.

The Brewport Coffee House opened Nov. 1 with limited hours as new brewmasters Joe SanFilippo and Keith Dawson continue to refine their craft for the new venture.

Their shop, located at 129 S. Country Rd., is the site of the former La Casa De Palma Italian specialty shop.

On Wednesday, Nov. 24, the partners will host a grand opening at 129 S. Country Rd. with a live performance from Bellport native and American Idol contestant Shannon Gibbons at 5 p.m. They will also offer free donuts.

After the grand opening, the shop will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, serving soups, freshly baked goods and — of course — plenty of coffee.

Keeping things local is important to the new brewers. SanFilippo said the shop carries scones from Sweet and Savoured in Patchogue and rolls and croissants baked at Sugar Dreams Bakery in East Patchogue.

The partners are also kicking around an idea for coffee happy hours with acoustic performances from local artists.

Good vibes

Frequent visits to Casa De Palma to sit down, work remotely and enjoy a cup of coffee inspired the vision for SanFilippo and Dawson’s new shop.

“Sitting there every and seeing the potential this cute little place had, my partner Keith and I just knew it could be a cool little coffee spot,” SanFilippo said.

While the shop is noticeably small, SanFilippo said it’s unassuming size gives it character.

“You can come in, you can sit there and work, you can meet somebody on a date,” he said. “It’s got that little vibe to it. There is plenty of seating. That’s how we stand out.”

Looking ahead, SanFilippo said Brewport’s menu and atmosphere is sure to quickly evolve.

“There’s always going to be something new in the store,” he said. “New foods and new little ways we can make it a good place to hang out and have a good vibe in there.”
