Brightwaters family donates $1 million to Northwell Health

|

A family from Brightwaters is donating $1 million to New York’s largest healthcare provider.

Peter and Daphne Hoffman — and Eric and Joan Hoffman of Seoul, South Korea — have pledged the money to Northwell Health’s Outpacing the Impossible campaign — an initiative that supports capital projects and improves hospitals like Bay Shore’s South Shore University Hospital.

Peter Hoffman is vice-chair of philanthropy on the board of South Shore University Hospital and announced the gift at a press conference on Oct. 20 where the hospital unveiled plans for a major $500 million transformation of its campus.

“The transformation of this community hospital into a growing exceptional tertiary care facility serving all of Suffolk County, coupled with the significant role the hospital has played in our lives for four generations, inspired our family to make this donation to further benefit Northwell Health’s vision for health care in this region,” Hoffman said.

Northwell Health is more than halfway to its $1-billion goal for its Outpacing the Impossible campaign.
