Brixton, Standard Rec owners take over Surf’s Out in Kismet, open Dive

|

Surf’s Out, a staple in the Kismet community, permanently closed its doors for good after a strong 12 years of serving the beach community.

But the end of this chapter brings a new dynamic to the Kismet community, as Dive opened Memorial Day weekend under Brad Wilson and Frank Bragaglia, the duo behind Standard Rec in Patchogue and The Brixton in Babylon.

Located next to the Pizza Shack and the Kismet Inn, the restaurant underwent renovations and will be hosting a grand opening toward the end of June.

The vibe is 70s retro mixed with Southern California, said Bragaglia, who lives in West Islip.

“I’ve been coming out here for the last couple of years and it’s a cool little location. It’s very down to earth,” he said. ” Kismet is awesome.”

Once the two saw the space was available, they jumped signing the lease on April 30.

Bragaglia described Dive as a family-friendly environment with lots of bands booked for the weekends and brunch on Sundays.

The area is 1,800-square feet on the inside with with three courtyards for plenty of outdoor dining space.

“We are doing an elevated bar food menu with a raw bar and bringing back the sushi that [Surf’s Out] did,” said Bragaglia. “We’re going to also be doing poke bowls and sandwiches.”

The restaurant plans on being open full time seasonally, from Memorial Day to Labor Day and weekends through October.
