Brookhaven Town beaches will be open for residents only Memorial Day weekend

|

In an effort to keep the beaches less crowded over Memorial Day weekend, Brookhaven Town announced its four main beaches will be open for residents only.

These beaches include:

  • Davis Park, Fire Island
  • Cedar Beach (main beach), Mt. Sinai
  • Corey Beach, Blue Point
  • West Meadow, Stony Brook

During this weekend, the beaches will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. — the gates will close at these facilities at 6:30 p.m.

In accordance with state guidelines, the town will also be reducing parking by 50% at each beach to ensure social distancing protocols.

Residents may bring umbrellas and blankets, but face coverings must be worn outside of the water or general beach area. The bathrooms will be open and will be cleaned every hour. While lifeguards will be on duty, the town says people can put their feet in the water but full-blown swimming will be prohibited.

After the holiday weekend, public restrooms and lifeguards will be available on weekends only.
