Bundle up for some bitter cold and high winds

Bitter cold weather is walloping our area bringing high winds and brutally cold temperatures.

On Monday it was between 5 and 15 degrees, but felt as cold as -15 degrees based on the wind chill, with winds of 25 to 28 mph and gusts as high as 47 mph, according to the National Weather Service.

Before you venture outside, make sure you have your hat, gloves and scarf along with wearing multiple layers of clothes with your heavy coat — including socks! Did you know your skin can freeze within 30 minutes in temps like this?

Temps will start to rise beginning tonight — it will be mostly clear and around 13 degrees. The wind chill will be between -5 and -10. It will also be blustery, with a northwest wind of 15 to 24 mph and gusts as high as 41 mph.

It gets even warmer tomorrow with a high near 29 and wind chill values between -5 and 5. A northwest wind of 6 to 15 mph will bring gusts as high as 25 mph. Tomorrow night will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 21. Wind chill values will be between 10 and 20 degrees.
