Burger King closes in Blue Point; McDonald’s in works for its place

|

Burger King’s 40-year reign in Blue Point is over.

The location at 32 Montauk Highway served up its last Whoppers and officially closed this month. In May, Burger King announced it would be shutting 400 U.S. locations by the end of 2023.

The Blue Point location was especially loved by local families for its Hollywood kitsch and 1950s vibe, including a booth that looked like a ’57 Chevy.

As of now, the other local Burger King’s will remain open:

  • 246 Medford Avenue, Patchogue
  • 500 Waverly Avenue, Patchogue
  • 5141 Sunrise Highway, Bohemia

What’s happening with the space in Blue Point? So far, there is a proposal to fill the space with a McDonald’s, according to plans submitted to the Town of Brookhaven. Check back later with Greater Long Island for more details.
