Car crashes into Islip Taco Bell; cops say driver fled the scene

A car crashed into an Islip Taco Bell early Sunday, causing substantial damage to the fast food joint.

The Islip Fire Department reported they received the call around 3:30 a.m. and upon arrival at the scene, 490 Main St., they came upon the result of a single-vehicle accident involving a car that crashed through the west side wall and window of the eatery.

The three employees inside the Taco Bell at the time of the crash were not injured.

The driver allegedly fled the scene on foot before members of the Islip Fire Department and Suffolk County Police arrived.

The Town of Islip Fire Marshals office and building inspectors were notified to review the stability of the structure.
