Wanted in Centereach: Police seek suspect in another bicycle theft

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers want for the public’s help identifying and locating a man wanted for stealing a bicycle in Centereach earlier this month, cops said.

The man stole a bicycle about 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 10 from outside a home on Oneida Avenue, according to Suffolk Police.

Surveillance images released by police show the suspect, wearing a light blue t-shirt over a gray hoodie sweatshirt, riding off on the bike. He’s also wearing knee-length dark shorts and white sneakers.

It remains unclear whether the man has any connection to the Centereach area or if the theft is linked to other incidents in the neighborhood.

In a separate case, police say a man stole a bicycle from the front porch of a home on Hammond Lane on Aug. 8 about 7 a.m.

It’s unclear whether the two incidents, both in Centereach and about a week apart, are connected or involve the same suspect. Police have not indicated the cases are linked.
