A Central Islip man was arrested Thursday after allegedly strangling another driver during a road rage incident in Huntington last week, Suffolk County Police said.
The incident unfolded Saturday about 7:25 a.m., when Wilson Torres, 41, of Massapequa, and John Alston III, 50, of Central Islip, became involved in a verbal confrontation while traveling north on Broadhollow Road, police said.
The two drivers pulled their vehicles to the side of the road, where Alston allegedly attacked Torres, strangling him before fleeing in a 2018 Kia Optima, cops said.
Torres, who was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Express van, was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
After a week-long investigation, police arrested Alston on Wednesday at 4:49 p.m. on Park Avenue in Huntington. Charged with second-degree strangulation and third-degree assault, he will be arraigned Thursday at Suffolk First District Court in Central Islip.
Police did not release details about what precipitated the altercation.
