Checking in: U.S. Navy sailor Robert Dasch of Bayport

|

The last time we checked in with Mineman 2nd Class Robert Dasch of Bayport it was April and he was receiving the Navy Good Conduct Award from his commander.

Today, we find the 2017 Bayport-Blue Point graduate smack in the middle of a damage control drill aboard Independence-variant littoral combat ship USS Charleston in the South China Sea.

In the photo below, Dasch, on the right, pairs up with Senior Chief Engineman Tramaine Londo of Ontario, California, as hose team members during the drill. The USS Charleston is part of Destroyer Squadron Seven. It is on a rotational deployment operating in the U.S. 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with partners and serve as a ready-response force in support of a free and open Indo-Pacific region, U.S. Navy officials said.

The U.S. Navy photo was taken by Mass Communication Specialist 3rd Class Adam Butler.
