Developers are pitching plans for a brand-new Chick-fil-A location at the College Plaza shopping center in Selden.
There’s a public hearing Dec. 18 at Brookhaven Town Hall to discuss the proposal.
According to Planning Board documents, property owner Brixmor has filed a site plan and special permit applications with the town, and is looking to demolish two buildings at the southwest corner of the Shoprite-anchored shopping center on Middle Country Road.
The freed-up space would make way for two new buildings. One would be for a major restaurant — in this case, the immensely popular Chick-fil-A — and the other for an Aspen Dental office, according to Planning Board documents.
Brixmor needs special permits for both a planned Chick-fil-A drive-thru and outdoor seating. The Zoning Board of Appeals issued all necessary variances in July. The Dec. 18 Planning Board meeting starts at 4 p.m. at Brookhaven Town Hall, located at 1 Independence Hill in Farmingville.
Rapid expansion
Chick-fil-A has been making a strong push onto Long Island in the last few years, especially recently. This year the company announced plans for West Babylon, Riverhead and Farmingville, while opening its latest island spot this September in Levittown. Construction in Farmingville started this November.
Chick-fil-A also opened in Huntington Station station in December 2022. The Selden news comes as just the latest L.I. expansion development for the College Park, Ga.-based company.
