Chick & Tender to replace both PDQs on Long Island

|

PDQ has officially flown the coop. The Florida-based fast-casual chicken chain is pulling out of Long Island entirely.

The brand, known for its fresh chicken tenders, sandwiches, salads, and shakes, once had two locations on Long Island. The Westbury restaurant at 1236 Old Country Road quietly converted into a new concept called Chick & Tender, and Greater Long Island has learned that the Farmingdale spot at 1004 Broadhollow Road will follow suit next week.

Once Farmingdale closes, there will be no more PDQ restaurants in New York.

Chick & Tender offers a menu similar to PDQ’s — featuring tenders, sandwiches, salads, and shakes — but also includes new additions like a smash burger and expanded dessert options. Unlike PDQ, Chick & Tender is not part of a national chain.

PDQ — which stands for People Dedicated to Quality — opened its first-ever New York location in Farmingdale in 2019, followed by Westbury in May 2022. The chain has restaurants in Florida, New Jersey and North Carolina.

The company was founded in 2009 by Nick Reader and Bob Basham, one of the original founders of Outback Steakhouse, with the goal of serving fresh, fast, and affordable food people could feel good about eating.
