Chipotle Mexican Grill is adding its second location to Sunrise Highway.
The fast-growing Tex-Mex chain confirmed to GreaterBabylon it will be taking over the former Tang’s Chinese Cuisine in North Lindenhurst—with a launch being planned for sometime in 2020.
The once popular Asian fusion eatery, located at 96 Sunrise Highway, has been closed down since 2017. Since then, the building has become desolate with a barren parking lot, something Babylon Town Supervisor Rich Schaffer is looking forward to see get spruced up.
“We are excited to welcome a well-known, successful franchise to the Lindenhurst community, and look forward to upgrading the property to a restaurant that so many of our residents will enjoy,” he said.
The nearest Chipotle Mexican Grill spots are currently at 1675 Sunrise Highway in Bay Shore, which recently opened, and at 901 Broadhollow Road in Farmingdale.
Altogether there are well over 2,000 Chipotle restaurants in the U.S., including over two dozen on Long Island.
