The high-end gym concept, operated by the parent company of LA Fitness, is rebuilding ex-LA Fitness sites in Smithtown and Garden City Park
Complimentary towel service, cryotherapy — and still a boatload of dumbbells.
Club Studio, a luxury fitness concept that combines the recovery amenities of a high-end spa, a diverse lineup of boutique studio classes, and the full equipment roster of a traditional gym is coming to Long Island. Two locations are in the works, operated by the same parent company as LA Fitness.
The brand has announced plans to open at 122 E. Main St. in Smithtown, where a rebuild of the former LA Fitness is already underway in the Branch Shopping Plaza, and at 2350 Jericho Turnpike in Garden City Park. Both LA Fitness locations shuttered in January.
Marketed as a high-end competitor to brands like Equinox, Club Studio locations span more than 40,000 square feet and houses five dedicated studios — CS4 HIIT, Ride, Box, Hot Yoga, and Pilates — alongside your traditional gym staples, like expansive free-weight areas, cardio decks, lap pools, and basketball or pickleball courts.
Club Studio’s long list of amenities

The amenity list goes considerably further. A recovery lab features cryotherapy chambers, red light therapy, and Hyperice and Normatec compression tools. Locker rooms are outfitted with keyless lockers, Dyson hair dryers, and chilled eucalyptus towels.
An organic superfood cafe — smoothies, açaí bowls and other treats — and an “athleisure” retail boutique round out what the brand calls its full wellness experience.
Membership won’t come cheap. Monthly dues run $150 to $199, roughly three to four times the cost of a standard LA Fitness membership. That said, a Club Studio membership includes unlimited access to all LA Fitness and Esporta Fitness locations nationwide.
While operated by Fitness International, the same company behind LA Fitness, Club Studio is a distinctly more premium brand. A number of LA Fitness locations across the country are being renovated and rebranded under the Club Studio name.
Long Island Club Studio sites among first in NY
The two Long Island locations are among eight Club Studio facilities in the works across New York, which also include four in Manhattan, one in downtown Brooklyn, one in Garden City, and one in Bayside, Queens. Smithtown, where the LA Fitness had been open since 2012, and Garden City Park, for now, would be among the first markets in the state to land a Club Studio.
Eighteen Club Studio sites are now in operation — primarily in California and Texas, with additional outposts in Connecticut, New Jersey, Michigan, Illinois, and Virginia. Another 22 locations are listed as coming soon.
