Coco Taco truck serving tacos and all sorts of Latin American treats at Eastport Marina

|

The Eastport Marina just became home to the community’s hottest new taco truck.

Since the Coco Taco Truck opened at the marina earlier this month, it has served up authentic Mexican and Latin American eats — from a half dozen different tacos to tamales and even Mexican pizzas.

“I came up with real Mexican food,” chef Roberto Carlos Leo said. “We get everything from Mexico, tortillas, avocado, the chillis, mole negro, mole rojo, everything from Mexico.”

Leo said among his favorite recipes available from the truck offers are the chorizo Mexican pizza topped with cheddar cheese, avocado and chipotle aioli and the birria tacos, which is slow-cooked short rib covered in Oaxacan cheese and served with spicy consumme.

The chef of 20 years also works at Brewology 295 in Speonk, another eatery belonging to Coco Taco owners Roger Bencosme and Kazi Hassan.

Appropriately, the truck parked at the marina offers plenty of Mexican-inspired seafood eats, including lobster guacamole, ahi tuna ceviche bowl, and the shrimp and lobster tacos.

The Coco Taco Truck is open Thursday to Sunday, 11-8 p.m.
