Commack’s Mayfair gets ramen joint, new bagel shop and Japanese BBQ

|

This shopping center on Jericho Turnpike in Commack just welcomed three new eateries, a big-name grocery store and, soon, a Planet Fitness location.

According to the Mayfair Shopping Center’s website, Bagel Toastery, JBBQ Shabu Shabu, Meet Izakaya, and Lidl Supermarket have all recently open.

A 20,000-square-foot Planet Fitness is opening its doors soon in the shopping center as well.

The rapidly expanding Lidl grocery store is leasing the 30,000 square-foot space previously occupied by Stein Mart, Levin Management stated in an announcement.

“The Commack community has long benefitted from the convenience of having a grocery anchor at Mayfair Shopping Center, and it is welcome news – for both area residents and the property’s in-place tenants – that a growing company like Lidl has chosen to locate here,” according to leasing representative LMC’s E.J. Moawad.

“This is a strong, accessible shopping center with a built-in customer base. It proved to be the ideal location for Lidl’s continued growth into this market, and we are excited to introduce the chain’s efficient approach to grocery shopping here.”

Here’s a little more information about the three new food spots:

  • Bagel Toastery is owned by the partners of the bagel shop Bagelicious Café in Port Jefferson Station.
  • This will be JBBQ Shabu Shabu’s second location, following its first restaurant on Bay Shore’s Main Street. It’s a Japanese barbecue concept where the food is cooked by the diners themselves.
  • Meet Izakaya is a ramen place that has another location in Rockville Center. It’s described as a “Japanese tavern” where one goes to slurp on some noodles, share some apps with friends and sip saké.
