Bohemia elementary school students collect candy for veterans

|

Youngsters at a Connetquot school collected hundreds of pounds of candy this fall for local veterans to enjoy.

John Pearl Elementary School students accepted donations of 286 pounds of candy during the Bohemia school’s fall candy drive.

The kids donated the sugary sweet loot to the Blue Star Mothers of America. The nonprofit will distribute the treats to veterans across Long Island.

Formed during World War II, Blue Star Mothers of America provides support for mothers who have sons or daughters in active service in the U.S. armed forces. The nonprofit is comprised of local chapters.
