Cornhole tourney in Bohemia benefits Long Island veterans

|

Icon Cares of Port Jefferson is teaming up with Cooking for Long Long Island Veterans tonight, Dec. 9, to host a cornhole tournament in Bohemia to benefit U.S. military veterans across Long Island.

Noble Motorcars, located at 1430 Church St., provided the venue for the “Operation: Cornhole,” which kicks off tonight at 6 p.m. Check-in and general admission to the fundraiser begins at 5 p.m.

“None of this would be possible without the help from Rena at Cooking for Long Island Veterans,” said Autumn Caviglia at Icon Cares. “The volunteers cook these meals for the vets, who otherwise would not be able to do so, and delivers them right to their door.

“This holiday season, everyone should get to enjoy a home cooked meal with their loved ones,” she added.

The event features cash prizes the first, second and third place teams; a 50/50 raffle; a silent basket auction; and food and drinks for sale.

Registration is $100 per team (two people per team). General admission tickets for fans are $15.

Cooking for Long Island Veterans is a nonprofit that works with residents, community groups and local restaurants in providing nutritious, cooked meals to military veterans.
