A fast-moving fire tore through Crabby Amy’s Clam & Oyster Bar, a popular waterfront restaurant, and spread to six boats docked at a Seaford marina Thursday night, leaving behind charred remains that stunned onlookers this morning.
Greater Long Island was on the scene capturing photos of the destruction. The damage is stark: the once-bustling eatery is now a blackened shell, with boats scorched in the slips beside it, still tied to moorings.
Ownership has since issued this statement on Instagram:
According to officials, firefighters responded around 9:30 p.m. Thursday to the Treasure Island Marina on Ocean Avenue, where flames quickly engulfed both the restaurant and nearby vessels.
“Upon arrival, officers observed the building fully engulfed in flames,” according to Nassau police. “The Wantagh Fire Department and neighboring fire departments responded to extinguish the flames. Additionally, six unoccupied boats that were docked nearby were damaged from the fire.”
The blaze sparked an hours-long effort involving multiple departments, as crews battled the structure fire and burning boats simultaneously. Officials said no injuries were reported. The Nassau County Police Department’s Arson/Bomb Squad is investigating the cause of the fire, which remains undetermined as of Friday.
