Death ruled non-criminal after body found behind East Patchogue 7-Eleven

|

Suffolk County police say they have not publicly identified the person found dead behind the 7-Eleven on Hospital Road in East Patchogue on Wednesday, and that the death has been classified as non-criminal.

The body was discovered behind the store shortly before 3:20 p.m., when the report was called into the police.

Greater Long Island readers have speculated that the individual may have been a 63-year-old man who was reported in recent days to be missing since May 25 after last being seen near NYU Langone Hospital —Suffolk (formerly Brookhaven Hospital), located across the street from the convenience store.

A police spokesperson said the department typically does not release names in non-criminal death cases.

Greater Long Island attempted to reach the family of the missing individual, but has not been successful.
