A Deer Park gas station convenience store sold a $2 million Mega Millions ticket, and the winner has now come forward, New York Lottery has announced.
JAI Holdings Trust of Syosset claimed the Mega Millions second prize for matching the first five numbers in the April 7 drawing, lottery officials said.
The ticket was sold at Bolla 2111 Deer Park C-Store, located at 211 Deer Park Ave. The winning numbers were 05, 15, 22, 33 and 37 — the Mega Ball was 02.
Matching the first five numbers normally pays $1 million. But this ticket paid double because it was randomly assigned a 2X multiplier when it was bought.
The trust last month took a single lump sum payment of $1.3 million after required withholdings.
Lottery officials did not identify the people behind the trust. Oftentimes, lottery winners often claim big prizes through trusts or limited liability companies to keep their names out of public announcements and shield themselves from solicitations, scams and unexpected requests for money.
