Diamond vision: New turf baseball fields unveiled in Sayville

|

The baseball diamonds at Broadway Avenue Park in Sayville glisten a bit brighter this summer.

Islip Town has installed new turf infields at the park, along with new concrete dugouts, backstops and fences.

The new fields, installed by The Landtek Group, are part of a multi-year plan to place more turf fields across Islip, officials said. The field was designed so that leagues at various levels are able to utilize them.

The standard diamond markings, as well as other markings appropriate for intermediate and little league play, make the field available for players at any age or skill level.

“Families will create lasting memories watching their children play on Broadway Avenue, and we look forward to bringing new fields like this one to communities throughout the town,” Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter said.

Carpenter was joined by town council members John Cochrane, Jr., James O’Connor and Mary Kate Mullen and other town leaders at a ribbon cutting to celebrate the installation of the turf infields.
