Police have charged a Dix Hills man with DWI in the Friday afternoon crash that killed four people and injured nine others at a Deer Park nail salon, cops said.

Steven Schwally, 64, was driving a 2020 Chevy Traverse fast through the Kohl’s parking lot in front of 421 Commack Road, before he crossed over Grand Boulevard and continued through the parking lot of 794 Grand Blvd., where he crashed the vehicle through the front window of Hawaii Nail & Spa at 4:32 p.m., police said.

The salon was open with employees and customers inside. Three women and a man were pronounced dead at the scene, while nine additional victims were taken to local hospitals.

Five of the injured were brought by ambulance to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip, three were transported by ambulance to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore, and one was airlifted via Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital.

More than 150 EMS and fire department personnel responded to the accident scene.

Schwally was taken to Good Samaritan for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said. He will be arraigned in court at a later date, police said.
