When GreaterSayville.com asked its followers on Instagram to let us know who they are staying home for during the coronavirus pandemic, Lindsay Bench of Sayville was the quickest to respond.
“Staying home for my husband Dr. Bench, an interventional cardiologist working at Stony Brook University Hospital,” she said in a message via Instagram.
Dr. Bench runs a cardiology practice with offices in Southampton and Center Moriches. He is co-director of the cardiac catheterization lab at Stony Brook’s Southampton hospital.
With the emergence of the coronavirus outbreak, Dr. Bench’s offices switched mostly to telemed services. But he sees patients in-person, as needed. In recent weeks, he’s been working at Stony Brook University Hospital’s cardiac ICU unit, where some of the patients have the coronavirus.
“He wears tons of protective gear,” Mrs. Bench said.
Despite the trying circumstances, Mrs. Bench said the couple, who have three children, remain upbeat.
“We are both super positive and have to be for the kids, (aged) 19, 16 and 12,” she said. “We are healthy! All good!”
