A Shirley man was busted for drunk driving after he swerved into oncoming traffic in North Bellport late Thursday, sparking a brutal head-on crash that sent his passenger to the hospital with serious injuries, police said.
Anthony Kaisser, 28, was driving a 2021 Dodge Charger, speeding eastbound on Montauk Highway about 11:15 p.m., when he plowed into a westbound 2021 Toyota Venza near Weaver Avenue and the Holla Dollar store, according to authorities.
Kaisser’s front-seat passenger, Marcus Jackson, was rushed to NYU Langone Hospital – Suffolk in Patchogue (formerly Brookhaven Hospital) with serious injuries. Kaisser was taken to the same hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, cops said.
The woman driving the Toyota, Gloria Quiroga-Malla, 36, of Patchogue also went to the Patchogue hospital, where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Cops charged Kaisser with driving while intoxicated. He was set to be arraigned Friday at First District Court in Central Islip.
