Dwyane Wade, Donovan Mitchell thrill Manorville kids with workout at ESM gym

An intense hoops workout. A Hall of Famer. An All-NBA guard. And a bunch of Manorville kids who could hardly believe their eyes.

Dwyane Wade and Donovan Mitchell showed up at Eastport-South Manor Junior-Senior High School on Friday for a workout that turned into an impromptu meet-and-greet, delighting middle schoolers and members of the high school team who were at the gym.

Word spread fast through Center Moriches student Tim Everoski, who posted photos and video of the workout to Instagram, along with images of Wade and Mitchell posing with a group of students before the two players left the building together.

Mitchell, who is spending the offseason processing a brutal end to his Cleveland Cavaliers’ playoff run at the hands of the eventual-champion Knicks, posed for pictures in a Mets cap — a nod to his New York roots. The seven-time All-Star guard grew up in Elmsford, in Westchester County, before starring at Louisville in college and starting his career with the Utah Jazz in 2017.

Cleveland was swept 4-0 by the Knicks in the Eastern Conference finals this spring, a sweep that sent New York to its first NBA Finals since 1999 — a run that ended with the Knicks beating the Spurs in five games for their first championship since 1973.

Even so, Tim Everoski boldly captioned his Instagram post about Donovan’s workout, “Better than Brunson,” a dis on Knicks point guard and captain Jalen Brunson, who spearheaded New York’s historic run to the title.

In video clips posted by Everoski, Wade is seen intently instructing Donovan on the court during their practice.

Wade, who posed for photos wearing a Jamesport Country Club baseball cap, has become something of a local. The Hall of Famer, inducted in 2023 after a 16-year career on the hardcourt that included three NBA titles with the Miami Heat, has been spending a boatload of time on Long Island now that he and his wife, actress Gabrielle Union, own a beach house in Jamesport.

The couple has been spotted out and about in Riverhead, Jamesport and the Hamptons since the summer of 2025, settling into East End life between Wade’s broadcasting and business ventures.
