Danielle Simonetti, a fourth-grader at East Islip’s Ruth C. Kinney Elementary School, was recently named Female Youth Track Athlete of the Year by the Long Island Track and Field Association’s Youth Committee.
Danielle, who was honored for her outstanding track achievements with the Foundation Track Club during 2017, was presented with her award while attending the annual USA Track and Field Long Island awards brunch, held on Feb. 11 at the Hofstra University Club in Hempstead.
“We are so proud of Danielle and the honor bestowed upon her,” said RCK’s principal, Hillary Bromberg.
Last year, Danielle broke the eight-and- under 800-meter American indoor record with a time of 2:47.55, set at the Armory Youth Holiday Classic sponsored by NYRR.
