East Patchogue mom fights breast cancer, nears treatment goal with community support

|

Farah Doris has built her career helping other people get the health care they need. Now the 40-year-old East Patchogue mother needs that same kind of help herself.

Doris, a health care coordinator, was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, according to a GoFundMe page that has raised nearly $10,000 on her behalf.

She hopes to combine traditional hospital-based cancer treatment with care at the Saving Health Lifestyle Center in California, a facility offering clinical support, lymphatic therapy, dietary guidance, and round-the-clock holistic care in a faith-rooted environment, the fundraiser says.

The GoFundMe, launched about a week ago, has raised enough money for Doris to reserve her place at the center. But the remaining balance is due within days, and organizers are asking the community to keep the momentum going.

“We are making progress toward our goal and so moved by your love and generosity,” the organizer wrote in an update this week, thanking donors.
