Locals hungry for a new Taco Tuesday spot can head to Centereach’s El Rodeo Taco.
Since its spring opening at 2212 Middle Country Road, the restaurant has served the gamut of Mexican and Tex-Mex cuisine — from tortas to tostadas and plenty in between.
The chicken, steak and chorizo tortas, which can be combined for the menu’s various campechana options, come topped with refried beans, avocado, sour cream, lettuce, tomato, jalapeño and mozzarella cheese. The various tostadas — served in pairs — feature house-made sauce, cheddar cheese, beans, avocado and pico de gallo.
The shop’s signature El Rodeo burrito, stuffed with fried chicken, rice, French fries, chipotle mayo and cheddar cheese, is but one of the many super-stuffed specialty burritos. There’s also the lava burrito, a serve-and-tuff amalgamation crammed with shrimp, grilled steak, grilled chicken, rice, black beans, cheddar, onion and jalapeño, and the el charro chorizo and chicken burrito with lettuce, tomato, rice, black beans, sour cream and guacamole.
The joint’s taco menu includes a number of unique finds. Beyond the typical beef, chicken, shrimp and steak tacos, El Rodeo also offers specialty tacos, such as ham, tripe and beef tongue.
Those seeking bigger plates can enjoy the various fajita platters or specialties that include the steak with shrimp or the salmon platters. Others can order such handheld favorites as nachos and quesadillas. Salads and wraps are also featured on the menu.
El Rodeo Taco is open seven days a week, from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Take-out orders can be placed via Uber Eats, Grubhub and DoorDash.
