An elderly man died in an Oakdale house fire early Wednesday, Suffolk police said.
Stephan Jendricks, 88, was found inside and pronounced dead at the scene of the 5:40 a.m. blaze, authorities said. He was the sole occupant of the house at the time of the fire.
Multiple fire departments responded to extinguish the blaze at 215 Waterford Road after Fifth Precinct officers arrived at the scene.
Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad and Arson Section detectives determined the fire to be non-criminal in nature, but are asking anyone with information related to the fire to contact the homicide squad at 631.852.6394.
