It’s official — Mary Adams is the first female to be elected as the mayor of Babylon Village.
The Better Babylon Party canidate won the mayoral bid after Tuesday’s election. Scroll down for full results.
Adams was previously appointed as mayor of the village after Ralph Scordino died suddenly at the end of October.
Adams’ running mates all won their elections as well, which included trustees Frank Seibert, Dominic Bencivenga, Anthony Cardali, and justice John T. Rafter.
Adams won with 1,580 votes; Vote for Babylon challenger Kathy Hoffman received 1,031 votes.
Votes for the Vote for Babylon members were all write-ins after the party was removed from the ballot due to an improper form filing.
Here is the final count for the Better Babylon Party winners and the Vote for Babylon Party challengers:
Trustee (4 year-term)
- Seibert: 1,275 votes – Winner
- Peckholdt: 831 votes
- Bencivenga: 1,230 votes – Winner
- Golub: 913 votes
- Melito: 715 votes
Trustee (2 year-term)
- Cardali: 1,538 votes – Winner
- Lyons: 764 votes
Judge
- Rafter: 1,898 votes – Winner
The Babylon Village clerk confirmed there will be a meeting held this afternoon to certify these results.
