A corporate attorney who served on the litigation team at Goldman Sachs for 15 years and was the general counsel at Major League Pickleball was arrested Monday in the Hamptons for allegedly driving under the influence, police said.

Janet Broeckel, 59, of Water Mill was pulled over by police about 8:07 a.m. in Hampton Bays, after she was seen driving recklessly in the area of Springville and Rampasture roads and drifting into the opposite lane of travel on East Tiana Road, Southampton Town Police said.

Broeckel was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, police said. The arrest occurred roughly 10 miles west of her $3.1 million home on Millfarm Lane. The lawyer was driven to Southampton Town Police Headquarters for processing and is being held overnight for arraignment on her misdemeanor charge, police said.

Broeckel was the general counsel for Major League Pickleball for six months in 2023. After leaving Goldman Sachs in 2020, she briefly worked as head of litigation (regulatory proceedings & investigations) at Robinhood in late 2020 and early 2021, according to her LinkedIn profile.
